What a day, hectic and exciting at the same time, where to start? I
guess the beginning! So we get up and have breakfast, still nursing
this awful cold I guess I had to load up on the fluids and vitamin C.
As I walk towards the lemons I see Barry Hilton speaking to Takunda
Bimha from Podium (Exec Producer of Standup Africa). So I am tongue
tied as Takunda introduces me to Barry and all I can think about is
cracking a dry joke (savanna, its dry but you can drink it?) Anyway we had a tight schedule the first part being an interview on
the business show on CNBC Africa with David Kibuuka, Kagiso Lediga and
myself...the interview had nothing to do with comedy but focused more
on issues happening around the world and of course Zimbabwe...cool
interview if you have a good sense of humour I guess. More photoshoots in the gardens of the hotel insued with an interview
for the documentary being produced alongside the standup Africa show.
Each comedian will have their own episode so it was Reality TV mode
having the cameras following you around. Some highlights...so we go to wish for David Kibuukas shoot, walking
down the streets of Melville and I spot a number of comedians in
Wish...awesome times Loyiso Gola, Tall A$$ Mo, Donovan Goliath and
Tats Nkonzo oh my gosh I couldnt believe my luck...what an awesome
time chilling talking even had a beer to savour this moment. Back at the hotel Basketmouth and Daliso Chaponda come out of the
hotel and we were trying to make a plan of what to do for our
evening...go out? watch some comedy? I couldnt think straight, I was
with BAsketmouth and Daliso Chaponda, guys I have only seen on the
320X240 youtube preview window. Great evening we had though talking
about comedy and just getting a chance to listen to all their past
experiences...soooo cool. anyway thats it for my diary entry on day one...oh by the way I spoke
to my baby Nelsy, I miss her so much and right now I wish she was
here...goodnight everyone, have an interesting morning coz of this
photoshoot we have to do in a roman bath with nothing but our boxers
on...anyway lets see how that goes
