Today It went out to see New York and what better place to start but to see the effects of hurricane sandy. What I saw when I got to Far Rockaway, New York I was overcome with emotion after seeing what this force of nature had done to these people. We helped out a family headed by a single mom with three daughters pick up the pieces of their lives and put them in black bags before throwing them out onto the street. Toys, clothing, mac book pros being tossed into the garbage years of memories thrown away. There was no power, no flowing water, empty supermarket shelves things I only saw back home and here it was in a first world country, not just that but United States of America. Yet in the midst of such loss, dashed dreams was a group, a community a nation coming together helping out where they could...The army and police making people feel safe and directing them to where they needed to go, companies bringing in generators to help people charge their phones, free bus services, people coming from less affected areas with packs of food, fruit and even cookies as relief for those less fortunate. I just cant articulate everything I saw in a blog but thought I would mark this as a record in my life of events that changed me
